The following presentation was made by Dr. Kurt Aterman at a symposium on “so-called hepatatis or giant cell transformation” presented at the Pediatric Pathology Club in 1966. The proceedings of the symposium, however, were never published. The paper is now presented, in its original form, on the occasion of Dr. Aterman's seventy-fifth birthday. The reader could be forgiven for feeling that no more is known about giant cell hepatitis 23 years later.
