Abstract

The authors found a dearth of measures of supervision, and no measures specific to group supervisor behavior in the literature. The Group Supervisory Behavior Scale (GSBS) is a newly constructed instrument designed to evaluate supervisor behavior as observed by supervisor and supervisees. The study utilized graduate student supervisees and faculty supervisors at an APA accredited mid-west professional school as a sample (N = 108), three separate measures, and multiple statistical procedures to explore aspects of reliability and validity of the GSBS. Results showed that the GSBS has high rates of internal reliability, very good content validity as judged by a professional school community, and sound criterion validity.
