This Paper is an analysis of the knowledge and skills needed by the child welfare practitioner as seen by social work faculty and field instructors. The findings suggest that the differences between these two groups are not as great as one would expect. Faculty members appeared to place slightly more emphasis than field instructors on having knowledge and skills in the areas of cultural and minority issues, training, social policy and research.
