Tourism Resource Development in China an Overview of The Growth, Prospects and Problems

The dramatic growth of tourism in China has brought significant impacts on the development of the country's tourism resources and infrastructures. Major tourist attractions have been designated as the Scenic Wonders and Historic Sites by the states, provinces, and cities for the purpose of protecting resources and increasing the appeal of destinations. National resorts have been built in prominent tourism provinces in an attempt to attract long term visitors. Spatial disparities exist in the locations of tourism resources. The number of tourist hotels has increased rapidly but the management and service quality need to be improved. As China is growing as a major tourist destination, it is also emerging as a tourist generating country with a potential to influence the future global travel patterns.
