E-commerce application development is a growing aspect of information systems management activities within many organizations. the increasing amount of E-commerce development carried out in organizations implies that a formal methodology for such development is necessary. This article discusses several E-commerce development methodologies and proposes a customer-oriented user requirement analysis approach. A survey was conducted to examine organizations' current practice on Web-based information systems requirement analysis. Findings and recommendations are provided for information systems researchers and practitioners.
