Available online: 14 Sep 2007This article presents the results from a preliminary study of wildlife value orientations in Thailand. Seventy semi-structured interviews were conducted. The study found eight wildlife value orientations (WVOs) including Materialism, Mutualism, Caring, Symbolism, Attraction, Repulsion, Concern for Human Safety, and Environmentalism. Caring, Concern for Human Safety, Mutualism, and Attraction were the most prevalent WVOs among Thai people in this study. Findings are discussed in light of the reality of the Thai society. Implications for future research are provided as well.
