Author biographies

Peter L. Mattis is a Fellow in the China Program at The Jamestown Foundation and a doctoral candidate in Politics and International Studies at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. During the current academic year he is also a Visiting Scholar at the National Cheng-chi University's Institute for International Relations in Taipei, Taiwan. Previously the editor of the Jamestown Foundation's China Brief, Mr. Mattis earned his M.A. from Georgetown University's Security Studies Program with a thesis on Chinese intelligence operations. A former research associate on Northeast Asia and Strategic Asia Programs at the National Bureau of Asian Research, Seattle, Washington, he has both public and private sector experience in research and analysis on China.
